The viewer shows thumbnails like before, but viewing each full-size photo is now done within the page, instead of taking you off to another page. We think you'll enjoy flicking through photos in the new Adobe Flash player - it's much faster, shows captions within the photos, and has cool animation effects! [To view Band or Venue photos, click on the 'Photos' tab on any Band or Venue page. Note: you can still see the original "static" gallery too - just click the link under the new Flash player.] [8 Nov 08]

Instant MP3 tracks on your own site Ever wanted to put MP3s on your own web site, but didn't know how to? Lemonrock has come up with an easy answer - MP3 feeds for your own site! You can add as many different tracks as you want to your page, by copying a small piece of 'embed code' from Lemonrock. Bands and artists can choose a simple button or a fully featured player, and the player(s) can be easily colour-matched with a band's own site. To add MP3s to a band's own site, simply click on any MP3 [embed] link in your band's MP3 section, and Lemonrock will create the embed code for you. [Licensing note: although the MP3s appear to play from a band's own site, they are actually coming from the Lemonrock site. This means that bands do not need to worry about licensing the tracks - this is covered by Lemonrock's own MCPS-PRS licence.] [27 Oct 08]

St Albans bands conquer 'In The City' On Monday October 6, 3 bands featuring musicians from the St Albans district performed at the UK's premier music industry conference and showcase, "In The City". SAASH Arts set up the showcase as part of their Verulam Underground initiative, supporting the professional developments of artists from the St Albans district, and the attending acts were chosen by a panel of local promoters. The venue chosen was the award winning One Central, in the heart of Manchester's club district - lending itself ideally to a live showcase - complete with an over enthusiastic mouse managing to take perfect aim at the trouser leg of Scratch front-man Andy! With the unenviable opening slot were punk-pop-glam stalwarts The Scratch who rose to the task with aplomb, delivering a raucous up-tempo set with big choruses, synchronised star jumps and a voodoo back beat. The band had arrived early at the conference and engaged in some top level schmoozing, attracting a BBC interview and the attentions of A-list [16 Oct 08]

Lowender tickets on sale now for May 09 Tickets are available now for Lowender 2009 which has been moved back to the May bank holiday: the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May. This is to try and avoid the bad weather which seems to be regularly arriving later in the summer. The idea behind the Lowender festival, held for the past 2 years at Colliford Lake Park in Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, is to showcase regional talent and hopefully give everyone in the local scene a large publicity boost. There are special deals to be had on multiple tickets, and there is also an early-bird discount of 10% available on adult tickets until April 2009. Obviously it's a bit early for any line-up information but check the Lowender site regularly for updates. [25 Sep 08]

Venue Accessibility Information Lemonrock has introduced Accessibility information for all venue pages. "We have added this feature in the light of the recent changes to the law, notably the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)," said Lemonrock's Editor, Mac MacLaren. "The accessibility information enables venues to show what provisions they have made to improve access for everyone," Mac explained. "There are eighteen different categories that can be set by ticking boxes. We have added all the most common categories, such as customer parking, wheelchair access and toilet facilities, as well as extended categories such as induction loops and baby changing facilities. "The accessibility information can be edited by venue owners, simply by logging into Lemonrock and going to the 'Accessibility' section on their venue page. "The advanced search feature has been extended to search for venues with particular access features, which will help the general public to find the type of venues best su [23 Sep 08]
