Moose on the Loose[60s and 70s Rock'n'Roll/Blues, 4 piece] Based: Luton
|
Moose on the Loose are a group of expatriate Canadian musicians currently living in a log cabin north of Luton. Their time is split between fruitless searches for beavers, chopping down trees [which has caused some friction with the locals] and rehearsing their own brand of Blues, Rock and juke-box classics.
The band comprises:
Ex-Mountie and Celine Dion fan club secretary, Mickey 'Rhythm' Moose on vocals and guitar.
Retired Montreal lumberjack Shaun Moose on bass, who still travels everywhere by canoe.
Former train driver for the Canadian Pacific Railroad Antonymoose from Vancouver on percussion
Barry 'Moose on the Lead', who owns a thriving maple syrup factory just outside Quebec, on another guitar.
Travel arrangements and plugging things in are handled by Winnipeg born Road Moose, Brian, famed for setting up an entire rock festival single-handed on top of the Rocky Mountains.
Biography Despite their colonial heritage, the Mooses are, in fact, English. Their families emigrated to Canada in 1959 and lived as a workers collective in the Rocky Mountains, with the intention of producing bearskin hats for the Coldstream Guards. Unfortunately, the bears had other ideas and promptly ate all the parents. The baby Mooses were raised by beavers until they were old enough to be introduced into Canadian society, where they quickly gained proficiency on a number of musical instruments. This explains their English accents why the band are currently over here researching their roots.
Mickey Moose reminisces about his musical influences: "Spent last evening 'beavering' away trying out some possible songs. It took me back to the old days I spent with my adoptive parents, Igor Beaver and his wife Eva Beaver. We used to spend the days building dams and singing as we worked. They were huge Beavel fans and had all their albums, With The Beavels, Beavels For Sale & their favourite Let It Beaver. They also liked The Chipmunkees songs Daydreamin Beaver and I'm A Big Beaver. There was nothing old Igor liked better than to chew his way through a log cabin or two, sit on a pile of sawdust that was once the porch and get out his guitar to play some blues. He once told me he met the legendary bluesman Beaver Beaver King."
