How To Add Gigs To Lemonrock
Q1. I'm in a band. How do I add a gig?

1. First, login and create your band page, in 'my bands/artists' (Edit menu).

2. Click the 'add a new gig' button, or use the diary or gig sheet to select a date. In the new gig form, type in the venue name and the date and time. If the venue doesn't have a page on Lemonrock, it will be automatically created, and added to your list of venues.

Q2. I run a venue. How do I add a gig?

1. First, login and create your venue page, in 'my venues' (Edit menu).

2. Click the 'add a new gig' button, or use the diary or gig sheet to select a date. In the new gig form, type in the band/artist name and the date and time. If the band/artist doesn't have a page on Lemonrock, it will be automatically created, and added to your list of bands.

Q3. What methods can I use to add gigs?

A. When you are logged in, you'll see the following buttons. You can use any method to add gigs.

'ADD A GIG' button. For adding a single gig, where you can add detailed gig information. See our Step-by-Step guide.

'GIG DIARY' button. For adding all your available (free) dates, and for adding gigs, one at a time. Similar to a diary page.

'GIG SHEET' button. For adding any number of gigs all at once, quickly. Similar to a wall calendar.

You can also add gigs by going to the 'my gigs' section in your edit page. In addition, you can use your mobile phone to add gigs. See Mobile Editor.

Q4. How to I add a regular (repeating) gig?

A. First, create your venue or band page, then click on 'new gig'. You only need to type the gig information once, as Lemonrock has a powerful gig repeat feature. When you create your gig, you set the 'Repeat Period' to weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, etc and specify an end date. Lemonrock then automatically works out all the dates that your gig will occur, and adds the dates to the gig listings. You must update your regular gigs every year.

If you have regular events at your venue that are not music related (e.g. sport, food, etc), you can add them to your page in your 'other events' section of your venue page. More information »

Q5. Can I just click to create a gig?

A. Yes. If the venue or band already exists on Lemonrock, go to the venue or band/artist page and click on the button near the top of the page (you must be logged in to do this).

This will automatically fill in some of the details of the new gig for you.

Q6. The band/artist for my gig is not on Lemonrock. What should I do?

A. Just type the band/artist name into your new gig, and we will create it for you automatically. Or, first create a page for the new band/artist in 'my bands/artists'. In either case, you can edit the band/artist details later.

Q7. The venue for my gig is not on Lemonrock. What should I do?

A. Just type the venue name and town into your new gig, and we will create it for you automatically. Or, first create a page for the new venue in 'my venues'. In either case, you can edit the venue details later.

Q8. Is there a quick way to create several new bands and venues?

A. Yes. If you are a venue with lots of bands to list, and the bands are not on Lemonrock, you can just type them into the gig form and we will create them for you. Or, to add multiple bands/artists manually, please see:

createbands.php

If you're a band or artist, you can create several new venues all at once.

To add multiple venues, please see:

newvenues.php

Q9. Why can I only create gigs for some bands/artists or at some venues?

A. Band/Artist Members can add and edit gigs where their bands/artists are playing. Venue/Promoter Members can add and edit gigs for their own venues. To summarise:

As a Band/Artist Member:
  • You can create bands/artists ('your' bands and artists)
  • You can create gigs for your bands/artists at *any* venue
  • You can create venues if they don't already exist
  • You cannot create gigs for bands/artists that are *not* yours
As a Venue/Promoter Member:
  • You can create venues or events ('your' venues)
  • You can create gigs for your venues for *any* artist or band
  • New bands for your gigs are created automatically. Or, you can create new bands/artists manually instead.
  • You cannot create gigs for venues that are *not* yours

Q10. Do I have to maintain band and venue pages that aren't actually mine?

A. No. New venues and bands/artists that you create will remain 'yours' until the actual owner requests that they are transferred to them when they become Lemonrock members. All you need to specify is the band/artist name, size, music type, or for venues, the name, city and venue type.

You can also disown (give up) any band/artist page or venue page that you have created, releasing it back into the Wiki pool so that any member can then edit it. Please note: If you do this, you will no longer 'own' your page.
